For the first part of the series look at this link, http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205847 .
I found a much cheaper glass store were i will be buying from. amhelo helped me by giving the width of the glass (thank you) i figured the glass peices will cost 44 dollars (if i had bought it pre-assembled it would have cost 75 dollars).
Anyway it will be 14 gallons and will have three acrylic dividers.

WHAT I NEED IS GOOD DETAILED INFO ON HOW TO MAKE ALL GLASS AQUARIUMS!!!!! all help appreciated.
I hope to buy black silicon but this may not be possible.

I have NO knowledge whatsoever about making a tank so ANYTHING will be apreciated.
Thanks in advance
Hudson

Search under building / resealing or repairing acrylic tanks here.

It's basically the same thing.

Make a mock-up or trial run (on a perfectly flat surface) of the tank by taping (use painters tape) all sides up on top of the bottom to check for fit. The fit has to be perfect, if there is any gap turn the piece around and try it again, if there is still a gap the piece neds to be squared.

Disassemble and clean all mating surfaces with alcohol, soap and water is not good enough.

put the mock-up back together and weld everything in place and after cured, your Monster tank is done.

He's wanting to build an all glass aquarium Doc!

And yes you can get black silicone, I know jlaquatics.com sells All-glass branded black and clear silicone, but it's about $16 per10oz tube or so. Maybe someone knows where to find it cheaper...... but that is one place I did see it.

"Grammar" has no 'e' in it! Sorry, but if you're going to get cheeky about someone's grammar you had better spell it right!

Why acrylic dividers? I would use glass and leave a small gap at the bottom. Acrylic doesn't bond well to silicone.

:ROFL:I had the whole thing written out for glass, looked back at the OP and saw acrylic and changed everything to that!:ROFL: I'm my own worst enemy!

Oh well, same thing except you can clean the glass with acetone and measurements aren't as critical.

Have the glass edges sanded or do it yourself but make sure it's done.

The acrylic dividers will work but glass would have been first choice unless your cutting a comb filter over-flow in it. Silicone both sides of the dividers.

Use painters tape to mask off where the silicone goes to give you a straight edge. (like painting window frame).

I wasnt being cheeky it was just a good natured joke. i am terrible at grammar actually but ok with spelling (at least i thought i was lol)
I was going to use acrylic cuz it seemed easier to drill and was cheaper.

Thank you. How would i drill glass? i have some super thin sheets of glass that came from a picture frame and i was hoping to make a 1.5 gallon tank with it but i think its too thin for that anyway. but they would be great for dividers!

I know it was good-natured teasing, I just couldn't resist (being a grammar-school teacher)! :grinno:

You're in Manaus, Brazil? I think you should have plenty of options for stocking your mini-custom tank!
