I now have 7 EBJD juvies (all about 1 inch) all in a 55 gallon tank. I have been feeding them a mixture of soaked and crushed NLS pellets (because I was told that even the 1mm might cause problems at this age), as well as beef heart flakes (those were given to me when I bought 6 of them) and Omega One cichlid formula flakes.

While I have been doing this I also added 3 guppies (1 male and 2 females) that I had quarantined for quite some time. I put them in the tank so that hopefully they'll breed and as the babies come out, my EBJD's can pick them off... (and eventually eat the parents when they reach that size...)

Now I was just wondering is this a bad idea? If so, why? I'm probably just being paranoid, but I hear that they're hard to care for, and I always wanted them, so I'm being extra cautious every step of the way...

Should be ok. The only concern I have is that your EBJD might grow fast enough to eat the guppies before they produce any babies. ^^;;

That's the impression I was under as well... so i figured i'd get a couple guppy spawns before they grow too large... :)

IDK, that's just my logic... I think it looks good on paper, but unless someone says otherwise, I guess we'll have to see how it works in real life haha

well the food I'm feeding should take care of any parasites, no? NLS thera a + or whatever, but either way, do you think there'd be such a problem with parasites anyway, even if I'm breeding the food myself? I"m seriously asking, because that's one of the reasons I started this thread...
