Good or bad idea?

I was munching on a bunch of stuffed clams last night when my wife asked if we would be able to clean off the clam shells and then put them in one of her tanks. Would this be safe? Any thoughts?

She was looking at a couple of tanks. One is a Malawi mbuna tank and the other one is a community tank (gouramis, mollys, etc.)

You should probably boil them first, and make sure there is no flesh left. It is probably fine though.

Ye i'v done this before i put a few in a very large malawai tank and it seemed fine. BUT boil them till your absoloutely sure there clean and nothing left on it.

i have some shells in one of my tanks. they seem to be ok in there.

I always add shell to my mbuna tanks and they bred and did well, as it seems to help ph stay level.

it does help with the pH, just make sure there's none of the 'meat' left
