as you all no i'm new to mfk but to not to p's... and have been reading loads of post in the indoor pond section what i'm thinking is to buy a big plastic pool this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3683101/Trail/searchtext%3EPOOL.htm its a monster holds about 3800 gallons i have the space for it in fish room...

what my plan is to buy about 15/20 mixed pygos and add them to that pool with possibly 3 or 4 fx5's for filteration and two 1 kw pond heaters...
i'm thinking i'll have to put a thick pond liner in and plenty of white sand so the fish can be seen clearly from above..

so the question is on you guys for some advice and ideas please feel free to leave any comments good or bad i want to here them all thanks dan.

^you mean inside right? well i think your crazy :screwy:

but if you can pull it off more power to you :headbang2

yeah of course its inside i live in the uk lol... so whats crazy about it??? i've got the space money and time

Can't wait to see it :)
with that size maybe you might be able to breed a species that hasn't been breed in captivity yet... or just have enough RBP's to take care of your enemies

I actually think it's a cool idea if you have the space.

Trick will be to make it look at place in a home, and not a 250 pound outdoor pool. I would think that a little extra investment would go a long way.

i think it's a great idea ;)

screw fx5's for filtration you would need atleast 20 of them to filter something like that you know how much that's going to run you? atleast 5 thousand dollars. Wet/dry filters are the only way to filter anything this size. Build one out of plywood and water proof it (with epoxy resin or pond liner) make it so it holds atleast 500 gallons preferably more(maybe like 800- 1000 gallons) make it slightly above the level of the pool so you can pump water up to it and have it drain back out nto the pool (after going through filter media) you could probably build it for 500 bucks or less

I'd say go for it. I've thought about it before but with a smaller size pool (1000 gallon). I wouldn't use FX5's, you won't have enough turn over rate to filter the 3500 gallon pond.
an easier and efficiency way of filtering it would be build your own wet/dry tower.
get one or two sump pump that's powerful enough to pump water from the pool to the top of the tower and it'll "rain" down and drain out from the bottom. you can use large plastic drawers as enclosure or other stackable containers that are large enough. if go with smaller wet/dry units then you can place multiple ones at different position of the pond for better filtration.
take a look at this thread, this guy is using the same filtration system I just mentioned.

page 4 is the filter

However, there are some concerns you may want to look into. 1st, how to heat the water, if your room temperature is constantly within an idea temperature that there's no need to heat the water that will be great, other wise you'll have to look into heating. with regular heater, it's gonna be very expensive to heat a pool that size, especially with such huge surface area to increase the rate heat loss. 2nd would be evaporation, with a heated pool and such large surface area, you'll evaporate water very fast. actually these to concerns tie to each other.

awsome ya better post pics i cant get enoph rbps ive got 4 my self and im thinking bout geting more

U may want to consider the structural integrity of what your putting this much weight on. Even a 4 inch thick concrete slab in a basement could settle under this much weight.

sounds awesome!!

maybe instead of buying that pool though, you could just build a pond in the basement. Couple people on the site have built really nice looking ponds, wood exterior with pond liner. I think it would look a lot nicer than having that pool in your fish room. Ill try and find the links for you.

And if you got 3k+ gallons, go for a lot more than 20 pygos.
