Good return pump?

I am looking for a good return pump for a diy sump I am bulding for my 180 gallon tank. I was looking for about 950 gph, as my drains are 3 3/4 inch holes. I was looking at the mag 9.5 which is about 100 dollars for the cheapest site I found. Thoughts?

Are you concerned with noise? Performance? Both? Or just gph?

The mag 9.5 will not give 900gph @ 60" head. The mag 12 is prolly better choice and throttle back some or tee off if necessary.

Noise a bit, but I can always insulate my stand to make it quiet.

i am running a quiet one 4000 on my 120 and it works great and i have 5 feet of head and i cant hear the pump. also it has 1 inch threads on the outlet so you can run 1 inch pipe

I have two quiet one's 5000 on my 450. Love them! Wouldn't use a different product.

I have a Mag 18 on my 180 tank with 2-1" drains. I would think about more than 900GPH IMO.

With 4'-6' of head pressure, my QuietOne 6000 puts about 1,000gph and is frickin awesome!!! And quiet.

Yeah I am planning on it eventually, but just to get it started I was thinking a GPH of 1000 as not to break the bank. I am planning on adding a FX5 eventually to meet adequate filtration.
