I plan on making a background for my 55 gallon malawi tank. I just have one question: What is a good thing to seal it with? I plan on Using styrofoam, sand, and rocks, but afterwards, i would like to coat it in a clear sealant just to make sure the sand doesnt come off, and that it is not toxic. I would also like to seal a peice of driftwood with this as well.

So, what specifically have you guys had success with? And where did you get it? If possible, i would like to be able to find it in a hardware store, instead of ordering online (Home Depot, Lowes, etc)

Thanks!

I've successfully used the Minwax polyurethane spray that you can get at Home Depot or Lowes.

I use the gloss because it makes removing algae easier. Spray it on, let it dry for a few days in a warm place, wash it in mild soap and water and use it.

A good aquarium epoxy will be even better.
