Im looking to get into discus and am finding lots of places that have them but I would like to know where you guys have had good experiences.

Also how many for a sixty (U.S.) gallon community tank?

I'm going to order a couple from Hans today hopefully. The ones I already have are from Kenny/Forrest. The general rule of thumb for Discus is 10 gallons per full grown Discus. Also with a community, you have to be a little more choosy with tankmakes. Discus can be overwhelmed by faster fish pretty easily. Discus can be slooow eaters, so make sure they aren't out competed for food.
*Speaking of 6 Discus, remember you want start with a group of around 6, so try get them all at once, same size, and from the same place.

Could I put 4-5 heckels in with a bonded pair of angelfish, a school of diensons barbs, and a small school pictus catfish?

Like Eva said. I would do a group of 5 or 6 rather than 4!

So 5-6.
Also should I take the Angels out of the equation completely or is it going to "depend on the fish" situation?

Thanks for all the help.

Thats all personal preference! If it was me it would be discus only tank. Every discus keeper has their own opinion on whether or not to keep angels with discus.
