Alright, I have my tank all set up and water parameters are perfect to a T. I am going to pickup a stingray this weekend! Tomorrow if it is at all possible. :headbang2

Here is the question at hand tho. I am wondering if getting bichers are a good thing with a stingray? I believe I have read a few posts here where they have (bichers) eaten the rays, but is this a common thing to have happen? I am hoping to breed the rays when they get to the right size but I am just curious if I could have Bichers as a suitable tank mate as I really do like them as well but the ray is a sure thing no matter what.

While some people keep them together, I believe it to be a mistake. Polys come from hard alkaline waters with calcium chloride salts. Rays come from soft acidic conditions. While each can tolerate the far side of each chemisty's spectrum, they won't thrive unless in their own ideal conditions (IMO).

I was thinking this was the answer. I guess unless I am allowed to have another tank, its just rays and the aro and some others later on that don't bother the rays.

I keep three rays and two bichers in the same tank, no problems and all are thriving. Loads of people do it. It does not matter so long as the bicher is not too big and if it is too small, no problem they seem to get along fine. My bichers often dissapear under the rays to get the food !!

my rays are with bechirs and I have no problem with them but I know the waste load of the bechirs are huge so when i get a larger tank i'm gonna seperate them. My plan is to get the rays into something like 6' x 2' x 2' which is a 180 i believe and the bechirs in a 4' x 2' x 2' 125 . That way i can control the paremters on the ray tank. I will prob put some congo tetras with the rays for some movement. and i plan on getting a few more bechirs for the other tank. =o) just my 2 cents .
