Well i've been contemplating doing this for a while now and i finally bit the bullet and did it. sold my 30cm dovii :(

the reason for this is because i always wanted to grow one up from fry but they were so hard to get at the time that when i saw him i had to buy him. he was 28cm

everyone knows its better to grow a cichlid up yourself - especially a DOVII

so here are a few last pics of him... and my new dovii. it's the little guy on the left.

cheers

you bought both of the little ones? or just the one on the left?

:( thats too bad, he was cool.:(

Aw man.. should have kept him.. He has great coloration compared to others.. excellent purples.

But I know what you mean. It is fun to grow them from juvi's..

A little patience and you'll fall in love with the new guy as you see his personality traits develope with age :)

for sure. thats what i love about cichlids. my big dovii and i just didn't have the same bond. he got brought into the lfs because he had killed his lifelong female. then he went straight into 2 different tanks all within 3 months.
he is being sold to a mate who is gonna try breed him

just the guy on the left. pretty sure it's a male

Join the little dovii grow out club, lol. No offense but I didn't really find that old dovii appealing, just didn't look "clean" to me. Gl with the new guy though, make a grow out photo diary? How big is the small one btw?

nice new dovii.

Nice new juvie. Keep regular updates as he grows.
