Goodbye my Bullhead

She had columnaris and managed to live for over 5 days. She got it from a wound and not enough water changes. She suffered a lot.

She was two years and 5 months old. Raised from a tiny fry that was hatched in big bear. 9.5 inches long and a happy fish.

She may have only been a fish but I loved her.

I have no pictures of her full grown, I thought I had more time. Don't do this. Take lots of pictures.

I am no longer a monster fish keeper.

Damn, sorry for your loss. Why give up though, remember the joy of growing her out? Why not re-visit that joy?

Right now it hurts too much. And although I know she may have been dinner for a larger fish if I had left her in the lake I have to question my ability to take proper care of a large or any fish. I am realizing that fish are even more delicate than reptiles to habitat conditions and in this case because of my stupidity she suffered a LOT. I love to raise babies, baby anythings. But then to see such a horrible painful end. I want to get rid of all of my tanks and supplies and be done with the whole fish thing. But I know that is grief talking so I will wait a while...I am not sure if I would even have a chance to get another fry and God Forbid I ended up with a channel cat...this one was way big enough for me...

I also have to fight to keep fish. My boyfriend hates them and my landlord complains and would not let me set up the 55 gallon because I am on the third floor. I know that he has a point but she could still be alive had she been in there...the circumstances would have been totally different.

Thank you for your response though...I will try to think mostly of the joy of watching her grow and try to forget the suffering at the end.

Not until I have a good place to set up the 55 gallon. She was in a 20 long and that is just too small. She had room to swim but could not set up the 55 due to landlords concern that it would go through the 3rd floor. I miss her already she was awesome.
