Anyone using Google Chrome ? I installed it few days ago and stopped using FF (*at home). I really like the simplicity and performance ...

Here is what I found which tells me how important it is to read FINE PRINT !

**********

Google Chrome is a new web browser "that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier." Unfortunately, the first "EULA" (End User License Agreement) for Chrome stated:

11. Content license from you

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.

11.2 You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.

. . .

1.1 Your use of Google's products, software, services and web sites (referred to collectively as the "Services" in this document and excluding any services provided to you by Google under a separate written agreement) is subject to the terms of a legal agreement between you and Google.

Fortunately, as reported at Ars Technica, Google revised its terms of service in response to concerns. Section 11 now states:

11. Content license from you

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.

Those are the reasons why I didn't dl it. I will have to recheck google's documentation.

FF has become such a resource hog.

Google have rewritten their license agreement due to the bit you highlighted (they no longer claim your uploads etc). I downloaded it last week and really like it (haven't used FF since.
They do need to bring out some bolt ons though like the google tweak where you get the preview of the site and where it predicts what you are searching for. The only thing I dont like is that when you navigate away from the homepage you lose the favourites bar?!

i like it very much.. the fact that the pages run separately is one of my fav properties.

Are there any features such as Noscript? Refcontroller? Keyguard?

I use ff primarily for it's security features (that you have to install, but nevertheless) and because it means I don't get ANY annoying pop ups or ads etc displayed at me as well as the privacy aspects, I can control what java etc loads so I can view pages without constantly being tracked/worry about keyloggers etc, something which google is very good at (snooping).

Not that I have any browsing habits to hide but when it comes to my online banking, business related emails and so forth I have to say I dislike how much google uses and abuses information harvesting. Do you really find it to be faster than FF?

I've found FF to be the fastest browser for page load times and little more can be squeezed out of it by some optimization of settings, but we're talking milliseconds.... Just curious about this new google chrome really, is there an option to turn off it's suggestive searches/ads etc? That's specifically the sort of thing that annoys me, I hate data harvesting as a default.

Having checked it out I'm not seeing anything that offers more than FF as a browser (if anything I'd say less). I'm not trying to sing and dance FF I'm just always cautious about these things, I truly believe FF to be the superior browser, are you running the new release? I trialled the developer release of 3.0 and loved it, as soon as the general release 3.0.3 came out I nabbed it, lots of very cool toys that speed up browsing by a long way.

I'd be curious to hear more about the customisation of the google chrome, whether you can truly affect its workings or if it's just another stubborn app.
