Ok, I'm an old redneck at heart and as such, I tend to strongly dislike new things being forced on me without my consent. I especially dislike them when I'm not told about it in advance and apparently have no way to fix it.
The problem I'm running into is Google's new 'master internet account' idea. I have ended up somehow having an email account that I created and use primarily for communicating within the German shepherd community linked to my Youtube account that I use for looking at car videos, fish stuff, hokey documentaries and videos of people using that-which-shall-not-be-mentioned-on-MFK hunting.
I originally signed up for Youtube about five years ago with the German shepherd email because at the time, it was one that I was using regularly and I wanted to actually see the status updates on my videos and whatnot. At the time, I had planned to link my Youtube account to a different email later on down the road. At the time, Youtube, like so many other sites upon which you have to maintain an account, allowed that option to be exercised.
Over the past year since I've stopped being a drill sergeant and found my way back onto the internet, I've noticed that my GSD email and Youtube seem to have become associated with one another. Ok, I really wasn't worried about that.
Another problem that I've constantly had is that every month or so, I somehow ended up with a new Google + account, in spite of the fact that I always delete them as soon as I realize that I have one. Tonight, this happened again; I had the stupid little Google + account icon again. The problem I ran into this time is that the Google + account, which seems to have created itself, linked itself to my Youtube and I can't delete it without deleting my entire Youtube account.
WTF is this? This email and Youtube account were never intended to be the same thing, they were never intended to be even vaguely related.
Does anyone know if there's a fix for this, short of just deleting everything, losing the ability to use my account names and starting over? Hell, I don't consider that to be a fix anyway. Does anyone know if there's a way to prevent this bullbleep from happening in the future?
Sorry to rant, just blowing off steam.
