Well like everyone when they get a new fish type there is a thirst for knowledge so I'm really thirsty.

anyone researching this fish will know there is limited info on how to keep them and having read alot on here and PCF I understand the reasons, no one wants to be responsible for someone else's fish dying.

So rather than ask that question I would rather see how people keep thiers ( not to judge) but to collect different peoples methods so anyone looking can then adapt a method and make their own.

I'll be honest my goonch scares me to death. Not because how big its gonna get but the fact alot just die with little or no reason as to why. I find I'm doing a small VAC daily and testing water every couple of days, needless to say I'm on edge but I have been told these fish are more robust to water condition than we give them credit for.

So mine is currently in a 55G shallow tank that's 39" x27" x 12" with a 1200 LPH internal on full power, I have bare bottom but do have slate and rocks and small bit of DW with Java ferns attached. Also growing out some spider plants. I have a 200watt heater in there set to 24°c but it rearly comes on, thermometer says 75-78°f most of the time. I have a small LED set up and natural lighting through the day. Water is pristine with 0 reading on all ( I flapped and went out and brought a brand new kit just to make sure yesterday) currently feeding every two days on a mix of frozen and pellets but also have some zebra danio in as dithers. He is currently 6". Planed Water schedule is 30/50% weekly and a small daily VAC to remove uneatern food. All water is dechlorinated before going in the tank.

Oh and please no body is reasonable for any method used and not working out for you.

Mine is is a 40br. I have a small led that I have on once and a while otherwise I just have ambient light. I have about 600gph in hob filters on the side of the tank. An 800gph powerhead on the same side as the filters. I have larger gravel and some large rocks. I have wood floating now, it has been wedged on the bottom in the past. Temp is about 78°f. I was feeding fillets every day. Now with my work schedule I have just been doing large feeders. It is about 13" now. Got it in Sept at about 6" or so. >10, 0, 0. Ph is 7.5 ish or so.
