if you are going to take on a fish like this you must give it some serious consideration -it is often not possible to mix even a more placid fish like a rtc with other fish as it grows, goonch gets bigger is more aggressive and has horrific teeth ,the goonch must be considered to be a "show" specimen and will require at least a 8x3x2 if you plan on keeping it to around 30in (bear in mind you might be looking at 4 or possibly 5 feet in captivity-i have not heard of anyone keeping them past small juveniles) so you will probably need an onsite build mega tank or a pool -expect to pay several thousand for a permanent home.
for future reference when asking about compatability it would help if you could say what size tank you intend to mix them in-on your profile "big tank" doesnt help-as to different people this could mean anything from 10-1000gal.;)

remember that goonch ate a kid somewhere in india or nepal, so you better think first before adding any. simply shows how aggressive they can be.

well....just make sure whatever you add...cant fit in its mouth. if your thinking any kind of thin fish, i.e. arowana, knife fish, much larger. if not...exspensive feeder it will be. good luck. just for info, my rtc x tsn ate a arowana just a few inches smaller than it.

dont forget the goonch will be able to take chunks out of even a large tank mate during for example a dispute over territory-whats the point in taking the risk?

ohhhhh....those teeth!! tsk, tsk, tsk!!!! they don't just swallow, they bite!

the tank it would go in right now is 6x24x24 the fish is only 6 inches. and they dnt grow fast like the rtc do
