Got a 150 Ex-high

Hi all,

My brother bought a 150 extra high and it showed up today. Its going to be an oscar tank. I'm a little concerned because the brace is just a thin strip of plastic. The glass is really think but I'm still worried. Is there anything I can do to give this compact beast more support? It has a lifetime warranty but still...

It's 48" long by 24" wide.

The footprint is not as important as the height. How tall is it?

It's 30" tall. I haven't seen the tank in person yet. I'm going off of my dad's description since its at his office for the time being. Those are the standard dims though.

if its new and under warrenty i wouldnt mess with it. "reenforcing" any part of it will likely void any warrenty and probably unnecessary. ud be suprised how much force it would take to break plastic by pulling it, most any cracked bracing ive seen was either caused by powerful lights over the brace or accident

It should be fine. The braces on all medium size tanks seem to be kind of flimsy to me too. But they do the job.

it isnt the light really its the heat. ive seen many bracing destroyed by the heat from a bad fixture or more often from metal halide. that being said ur fine.
