Pam Pam Pam
There was a LFS that was having a close out sale. Going out of business and there were two little kids looking at the baby shark. Asking a million questions. The worker told them he could be kept in a 55 gallon its whole life. Hahahahaha. Anyhow...as the kids were looking around at other fish I told the guy working the SW section to bag him up for me. I was very certain that the kids that were looking at it in front of me were gonna want to take it. Sure enough as he was bagging it up for me, the kid came over and asked me if I was taking it. I said yes... and the kid got pissed off and left ha ha ha ha ha. Well enough about how i got him and more on how I should care for it. Right now he will be in a AGA 265 fowlr I have some tangs and angels in there right now. Eventually he will go in a shark pool I plan on building in the future. The problem that I foresee is the fact that I didnt know if the little guy/ girl is a recent hatchling. I dont know if he has eaten yet or not. I think he is a recent hatchling because it is no more than 8 inches. What should I do to encourage a more reactive response to eating in the next couple of days? Will he be ok with the other fish mentioned? There is a lot of LR in the tank etc... a good 350 lbs worth. I really dont want anything bad to happen to the little guy, but I couldnt sit there and watch him meet his death if those kids took it. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Lots of feeder shrimp? If you have a tank of mollies, get some babies quick!

Usually these guys chill on the bottom but can go crazy when it comes to feeding time, (that is with multiples though, I havn't dealt with just one in a tank.) 350 pounds of live rock should be plenty enough for a guy that big. I have seen them eat (frozen) squid, bonito, and salmon. If you offer him plenty your tangs and angles should be safe but I would definatly suggest setting up that shark pool because he will get big fast. Good luck with him/ her though.

Well - I would say if it's almost 8 inches then - they been hatched for more than a month. So it should already be eating on it's own.

Nearly all bamboos are about 5-6 inches at hatiching.

As for keeping in a 55 gallon tank, - yeah maybe for the first 6 months . but no longer than that.

It sometimes amazes me at the lies the LFS employees will tell their customers.

Awesome Dude! We need to stay in touch because i am venturing into getting a baby bamboo, I want to get an egg and hatch it in my empty 75 and gradually move him up the food chain!
