One day I ran across this website on here (I think)

http://flowerhornking.com

Anyway, my boyfriend and I went to his shop in Alhambra yesterday, and I have to say he has the best looking discus I have ever seen in an LFS. He also has some of the biggest. We ended up getting 3 for our tank, a red apple, a blue snakeskin thats almost silver, and a pigeon blood. His were healthy and beefy looking. I have never seen this quality at a LFS, only online.

Just thought I'd share my experience. That way, if any of you are in the market for some discus, you might give him a try:D

Pics please?? But just to give you some advice for next time. You should've searched for local breeders in your area, and you being from Cali I'm sure there's a ton of them there. Local breeders and hobbyists sell quality discus for much much lower than most LPS. Plus you'll have the chance to ask lots of questions and learn some great information. I'm not bashing you by any means for buying discus from a LFS, just thought I'd give you some info for the next time you are interested in purchasing discus......

pics please....

I have an LFS that has outstanding discus. Called AquaLifeand in Providence RI. George "the fish doctor" and his wife bring in some beautiful specimens. Sometimes he brings back wild caught from trips to Peru and Brasil (that I know of). Has been raising and breeding discus since the 70's. I highly recomend them as an LFS. I havent found to many breeders in my area.

Do they ship? I'd love to try them out, but they are a little far from me.

Bear with me, pics are coming, I promise. Just let me get through finals week first

went to that store today. turns out i know them. there old store was on garvey and moved here, no wonder i never heard of this place. there specialty is more focus on flowerhorns. they do have the best and most variety of flowerhorns from all the fish stores i been to. they only have a few discus tanks. they do look pretty nice and healthy compared to other local fish stores. prices are the typical fish store prices but they're the type that you can bargain with them. but nothing compared to vendors on simply discus.

janiners, go over to simply discus forum and look at the vendors there. especially kenny chung, hans, and lucky tropical( you can pick up when u do group buys from them cuz they ship the fish to baldwin park, its there i got my albino's from) and other good vendors.

Nikond, is there one vendor that you would recommend as the best out of all of them? Price is a factor, as I am a college student, and as much as I would like all my money to go toward my hobby, it unfortunately can't. Pickup in Baldwin Park is super doable for me, I only live about 15 minutes away.

if i had to pick one vendor prolly kenny chung. him because he actually takes pics of the actual fish hes selling. all of his stock is very nice and healthy. shipping is about $40-50 and his list sells out super fast like within a few days. so you have to hurry up. here his december list, it sold out in like a few days, but hes having another shipment again soon prolly next week.

for local pick up, ill go with lucky tropical. once a month or so kevin (notjustfish) have group buys. he'll list the available stock and you pick and let him know what you want. downside is that its hard to get pics of the actual fish you will get. cuz lawrence soon is a busy man. but the good part is you dont pay shipping since we live close by. fish are shipped to baldwin park and you just go pick them up when they arrive. heres the link:

discus are pricey, your gonna spend some money if you want nice quality ones. im too a college student and im broke from buying fishes.

pics of the november group buy shipment that landed in his facility:
