got a lemon oscar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am not an Oscar fan, however a Lemon Oscar is one that has caught my eye over the past two years and one that I wouldn't mind housing if I could squeeze one into my tank (which I can't).

First and foremost, over filtration for an O and give him room. What size tank will your O be placed in and what type of filtration are you running?

75+ gallon tank..clean clean water and good food.

I have a couple of O's, one of my personal favorites. They grow FAST - I saw at least 1" per month growth til about 9-10" long. They will constantly beg for food so watch out for overeating, they do like a variety of food - mine get pellets, shrimp/krill and try to steal whatever I put in for my plecos. They will try to jump out, especially when you are feeding them and have the lid open. They will eat fish that can fit in their mouths so watch out if you have tankmates. Lots of personality with these guys, they will sulk - when I moved one to a larger tank he laid on his side for a couple days before he forgave me for moving him.

as for right now hes in a 55 got biowheel filter also have three other O's one pink veil tail and two tigers thew two tigers in a 180 with two black sharks, a pleco an asian rtc and three high fin synodontis yes we are looking for a bigger tank need a five hundred gallon.
