Got a new Fire Eel...

But he wont eat.

Ive had him about three weeks now, i left the tank lights off for a week to let him settle in.

hes around 15" and i dont want to make him starve too long.

Ive tried bloodworm, all types of frozen shrimp, krill, pellets and flakes for some reason.

Ive yet to try earthworms im pretty sure hell take that but then im in the whole eel vs worm trap and that sucks.

how long can he carry on without food?

Hiya,just to put your mind at rest im sure he will be eating enough to get by,once he has settled in you will get the privilage of seeing him eat,he will just be very shy at the moment.I have just introduced a pair of peackock ells into my very busy community tank and one of them is getting bolder each day but the shyer one seems that bit bigger when you do get a glance at him,they were very similar in size when i got them ,they do find blood worm in gravel very well so i wouldnt worry too much ! Hope this helps

Thanks Robbie i feel alot better now come to mention i did see him looking in the sand i thought he was hungry.
