I picked up a new tat on a trade. he is about 8" and eating pellets, shrimp, just about anything.. Question is since they like to school and i cannot get my hands on more right now, what else would make a good addition? Something that is easy to get and wont matter if he shanks them. With my armatus i have a large 6" silver dollar that works good, he has nailed him a few times but it triggers him to eat very aggressive. Would something else be better with the tat to dither?

I have tried to keep multiple tats together but they just arent for sale enough and I am looking for some now.Mine did well with the dats and the scombs that I had him in with,I made my mistake when my Armatus grew big enough and I tried to keep them all together.

I almost put him with the armatus and everybody said = dead tat. My dats are killers, they went for the armatus so i will not try with the tat. was thinking silver dollars?

Yeah the silvers should work okay.Has the tat eaten yet?The second one that I found took almost a month before it ate anything, and it had small feeders swimming around constantly.

it came from a friend, and it will eat pellets and shrimp..just about anything, i have not tried in my tank yet. i will try tonight. He said the same thing, it took a while for it to eat when he first got it.

I also had trouble with him readjusting when I moved him to a bigger tank but it didnt take nearly as long to start eating again.

I have my tat with 2 scombs, the scombs pair off and the tat is a loner under a rock cave. My tat like you say is VERY moody, I will come home and somtimes he will be with the scombs and somtimes he will thrash at anything in the water!!!!

I also want more tats!! I had mine with a big white goldfish that worked good, a feeder that didnt get ate. That is awesome yours eats pellets, I have tried several times but no luck!

Good luck!

I have mine with 3 hujeta characins and a needle fish. The tat does not school with them but they have worked flawlessly as tank mates. I had 3 tats and watching them school and interact was like a dream. That turned into a bad dream cause during a winter power outage that lasted over a week 2 died and like everyone else I can't find anymore that are affordable.:(

well last night mine already started eating again. He thinks he is bad, he is taking some shots at a 12-13" aro. I will go get some kind of dithers tonight,.

none of my tats actually schooled with anything except other tats or hydrolycus species.
no matter what silver fish i had.
