Was at the LFS they had a tank of africans they were clearing out because "they were slow movers"..

got the following for about $22:
1. Two PsedoTrophus Acei.. the black strain
2. Three Red top Zebras
3. One Aulonocara (Peacock) baenschi male starting to color
4. One Aulonocarara male starting to get Red
5 . Three unidenified Peacocks .. might be females.
6. One Melachoromis exasperus

All but one of the fish are 2" or longer..

Kind of took the sting out of having to replace a leaking bulkhead tonight :)

Thanks, I will get some pics up in a few days. I am setting up a 300 gallon now. I already have a 180 up, so all the fish from the 180 will get moved there. The new arrivals will go in a few weeks after a quarantine period.

It is a community cichlid tank. I don't try to breed, so I am less concerned about hybridization. Now, some incidental babies do survive, but for the most part I don't get hybrids. There was one hybrid my wife liked, so I didn't cull it (I let it get too big).

But you are right, I might end up with some hybrid peacocks.. but I already have a lot of different types of peacocks in there, that it's kind of hopeless. Fortunately, few peacock fry survive. I am responsible in that I don't give away any peacock juvies (so any hybrids remain in my tank). Therefore, I am not polluting the hobby.

The main reason I took the three unknown peacocks was to help the LFS out, since he wanted to clear out the fish. He gave me such a good deal, I didn't want to just cherry pick all the males and leave him with the females that are unmovable...
I actually kind of like female peacocks in my community, even though they aren't colorful..
