Nothing big at all. A Maxijet 400 or 600 will work. Just enough flow to make the Phosban suspended. You can set it up so that it is in your sump or hanging on the side of it depending on where you have space. I just bought the 550 version and it will be hanging on the side of my sump when I get it tomorrow.

Ok, I'll hang ot on my sump. Does it mtter where the return and drain lines go?.....in the fuge, bubble trap, skimmer section, or return pump? OR does it really matter. I have a FOWLR, should I just use carbon? for algae control and to crisp the water?

Not really. I would say near the return pump after filtering the water so you are sucking any crap into the reactor. Carbon would be nice, something like Chemipure or Purigen proly would be better.

Stuff gets pricey. I'll try to get it in bulk. Thanks man. My ammonia just started dropping from the cycle. Gonna grab a small CUC to speed up the removal of diatoms over the weekend.

That is true. The purigen is rechargeable though. Another thing you could do is a phosphate remover(like Phosban). Both the sites below sell GFO(same stuff as phosban) in bulk by the lb.

Good sites to check out to get good prices are BulkReefSupply.com or Premiumaquatics.com. I just ordered 40 ounces of Chemipure off Premiumaquatics for 19.99.

Thats a crazy price. Is it definitely a tool I should be using? Seems like everyone is persuading me to run a Phosban.

The choice is up to you. I am going to be running GFO(ferric oxide) from Premium Aquatics in my Reactor. Got the GFO for about 15 a lb cause I bought 4 lbs. That will last me quite a while.

A lb. should last you a year. You will use up to 200 grams at a time and there are 450 grams in a lb. The stuff lasts multiple months before needing to be changed.

my pump for my reactor is 200gph. i mix 50g of phosban and about 5" of carbon and change it out once a month. for your size tank maybe 100g of phosban and 5" of carbon. mine is mounted on the front of my sump in the return area.

Keep up to date on your ferric oxide though, the only thing to my knowledge that removes phosphates and doesnt leach them out once it expires is phosban...everything else you need to be testing for so you can tell when to replace it.
