Got a scare. Thought they were sick.

I was looking at my tank and after feeding, I noticed a Yellow Lab and a couple of the Cobalt Blues swimming around nose up. These three were just kinda floating in the middle of the tank, nose pointing up amost at a 90° angle.

I got all worried and was thinking they were sick so I got to researching to see if I can find anything... Then I hear a boink and a splash. I look up at the tank and see the reason for the unusual swimming (well for my fish anyway).

At feeding time, all the fish swarm the top of the tank. When I feed them pellets, they tend to knock some upward and some get stuck under the top of the tank.

They see the food and they all take turns jumping out of the water in attempts to get to it.

It's funny watching them because you will see one guy looking up at it, then start its stride, but pull out last minute. Some I guess are not strong jumpers so they can only get their head above the water line.

Pretty funny to watch. Just thought I would share.
 
Sounds pretty entertaining. My archers make quick work of that situation though.
 
It's amazing how attached people become to their fish. Good though, because you can pick up illness before it's too late. I know immediately if a fish is not well because I spend quite some time observing them. Glad to hear it wasn't anything bad. :naughty: :woot: :clap :clap :headbang2 :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
yah that is really cool, I am glad that you fig. out they arent sick, but watch them. ^__^ That is how my yellow lab was and turns out he cant use his back fin area anymore though. =) That sounds like it would be fun to watch. I miss my Africans =( the use to remind me of dolphins if they were hungry they would go the corner and get in a line and then they would swim to the top do a weird turn and swim to the sand do a weird turn and back to the top like that untill I fed them, always in a line.
 
My oscar does the same thing,hell try to get stuff on top of the glass!hes a headbanger :headbang2
