ok so i saw a tank that looked really cool a few years back that was sand and dead leaves and dried branches. it had a few pairs of guppy, and when the guy dropped in some brine shrimp suddenly the leaves started moving:eek:, and these crazy looking fish appered out of the sand:WHOA:.i now know that the fish where banjo catfish and amazonian leaffish;). so i am gonna try to recreate this tank. i will use some tan sand and lots of branches and dead leaves. a cork board background. and some cork bark rounds for hiding. and a sponge filter. and dim lighting. it will be a 10 or 15 gallon with 3-6 banjos and 3-6 amazonian leaf fish and maybe 3-4 pairs of guppy to supply them with food. along with the brine shrimp i breed. do ya think it would work?

That would be pretty cool, maybe you can figure out a way to have a small area behind the board for inflow and out from a HOB filter, I dont really like sponge filters being the only filtration for anything but baby fish.

def. i allready found the banjos and a royal farlowella to eat the algea. now just gotta find the guppies i want and the leaf fish. allready got the cork board and i can get the other branches and cork bark rounds easy. the sponge filter is gonna be easy, just buy and hook up to an airpump, and for once it will look good slightly dirty and cloudy!!! it will be ba and easy to clean

if i were you i'd do wild guppies aka feeder gups, theyre 12 for a dollar and look more natural then their tank-bred counterparts.

The leaves you're thinking of are almond leaves, use driftwood with java moss wrapped around it, some java fern, and water lettuce for its hanging roots.

Actually, scratch the java moss/fern idea, stick to darker, blackwater conditions. Float the almond leaves at the top.

Do 3 leaffish and 3 banjos, saves you money and from overstocking.

And yea I guess thats all the advice I have. Good luck bro.

ya i cant find any almond leaves. i was just gonna do some cottonwooden branches and leaves, till i can find the almond leaves and some driftwood i like. ya i am doing the natural looking guppies, the lfs just doesnt have any yet.
