Anyone else out there enjoy either of those types of fishing? All are eaten, not released or thrown away. Only get the big guys but its awesome knowing you timed it correctly and that you basically shot a fish through surface refraction and successfully got it in. A good way to practice is to sink a milk carton down in a shallow creek and basically target practice, retrieving it when done of course.
We would cull my uncles pond of the larger catfish this way (it wasn't a manmade pond, but a natural about 400 feet wide and 50 feet deep) that he liked to keep stocked with bass and such for fishing but he soon learned the big catfish were eating what he liked to fish for so we started that. Quite a lot of fun, and a great meal at the end (catfish tacos, deep fried catfish strips etc). I'll try and find some pictures from last summer since we haven't done it yet this one and post em up.
Also would like some input from the Aussies, you guys fish this way? Must be much more intense then in america, would love to go fishing down there
