i just got my fist FW stingray today its a motoro ray and its about 3-4 inches acrose and i have it in a 10 gallon tank at the moment going to get it 55 gallon tank soon. and what would be better sand or bare tank

Woah. your gonna need a much bigger tank.

I would suggest you rethink the size of your new tank - a 55 won't last long before a motoro gets too big for it, plus you need a bigger water volume to ensure your water quality remains stable. Check out the site, there are numerous threads giving good advice on tank size, care, etc.

You mentioned "death curl" in another post - if it's in a 10 gal you probably already have problems with ammonia - need to test water asap.
What's your water change regime?
Is it fully cycled?
Unfortunately, IMO you'll need to get it into a bigger tank very quickly if you want it to survive!

Good luck!

omg wow are you serious about having it in a 10 gallon and then putting it in a 55 that won't even hold the ray for a year.... a 180 would buy you a couple years.... but damn dude why would you even buy it and put it in a 10 gallon... probally just consider the ray dead and do some serious research before you get another one....

10 gallons are for bettas or guppies...
