I moved my 2 convicts back into my main tank about 3 days ago an just seen some eggs now in the main tank, i have a 2.5foot tank with 11 smallish fry in there at the moment that i bought so ive never bred anything before.

how will i keep the fry alive then? there due to hatch in a day or 2
is it best to leave them in there? or tank the fry out, add caves, slate etc, remove or what give me ideas.....the parents can NOT be moved to the other fry tank

my whole tank was supposedly for breeding Yellow Labs but they wont breed :(

anyway a few pics

Crushed up fish flakes are the easiest thing to feed them. You can also try BBS if you want.
What do you feed the parents? Sometimes they'll chew up food and then spit it out for their babies.
Oh, and keep an eye on your other fish. Convicts can be mean when they spawn!

Convicts are the rabbits of the fish world. They breed so easily and their fry are very easy to take care of. The fry will eat crushed fish flakes or artificial fry food. Be careful though. Convicts(as are most cichlids) are very good parents. They will split ur tank in half if you dont move the them to a seperate tank.

i put a coconut cave in ther the mother / female moved the eggs inside and she keeps guarding it, but nothing other than that yet,

i can not see any eggs or fry now as she moved them lol .......shes paranoid :)

oh and i have also put up a big slate partition resting on that tree stump to sperate it but they can still swim around but not as easy

wpw your so lucky
I have been trying to
get my oscars to breed
forever now lol

thats awesome

you toooo!!!!! i have eggs to......we can walk it through together. my cons are small....1.5 inches male, and 1 in female.
HOW LONG will it take the eggs to become frys?
