around the corner from the LFS
I have soaked it in my bath tub for 2 days and have been therally scrubbing it with a brush to get any excess bark or debri off of it. I have noticed it floats what do I do about that and what else should I do to this? This is my first driftwood ive ever owned.

Get creative. You need to improvise a way to hold it down. Eventually it will sink to the bottom. Change the water daily and you will notice the tannins look like it will stain your tub. Not to worrie, have your wife clean it.

i had to hold one peice i got down with the rocks in my tank. it was wedged between 3 rocks. it took a while to sink on its own.

itl sink soak it in the hottest water you can and change the water daily to get the tannins out use some fishing line and attach rocks to it

find a piece of stainless steal sheet metal or piece of Plexiglas (somthing flat that wont corrode into your tank) that it the correct size to use as a base. drill a whole in the center and use stainless screw or a wood peg to connect it to your wood. that should do the trick! ;)

The easiest way to hold it down is attach some small pieces of slate to the portions that will be on the bottom. Basically you are attaching feet to it. I just went out and "borrowed" some from my neighbors flower bed , drilled a small hole in the slate and ran a screw through it into the wood. Then you can just pile your substrate stone on top of it and that will hold down the driftwood.

I have a piece of rock on top of it to hold it under water or at least 95% of it under water there are a couple little parts sticking out and I have drained the water once a day and just turned the shower on as hot as it goes to fill it back up and let is soak for another day. How many days do I do this for. And my next step after 2-3 more days is to power wash it to be sure all debri is removed to get down to the bare wood. Not close up power wash it but just to have pressurized water hitting the small spots that i cannot scrub with the hand brush.

I dont have a pot big enough to boil it but i did boil the base of it maybe I will do that once a day for about 7-10 days as well as soaking it in the bath tub all day and changing the water once a day.
