Anyone got any handy capped fish that they love and still keep? Can you show em? Damn. After I wrote to this piont here, I just realized that I have a light handicapped fish myself too!. lol. What a coincidence. I have a female FH with half her dorsal missing.

pictures pls?

I don't have the pictures anymore after replacing my computer's hard drive, but I once had an oscar that was totally blind after suffering from a bacterial infection. It was a rescue fish, and I thought for sure this fish would die before it recovered. It took months, but eventually returned to normal except it couldn't see a damn thing. I had to keep it alone and hand feed it. I kept it about a year before giving it away to make room for other fish.

He's no monster but he's my little pooty pie. :D

He's missing both eyes. He can sense light but, obviously, can't see anything. I've had him 9 or 10 months now. He's not as big as the female I got him with is either and will probably never get to his proper full size.

Poor thing...

So how does he eat bro? I had a oscar like that and I feared he will suffer from starvation so I killed him. I felt bad.

First off, "sis" would be more appropriate. ;)
I had a Placidochromis milomo that was completely blind and he died out of fear and starvation. He was too scared to venture out to eat and starved.
With this guy, I was afraid of him doing the same, being too scared to eat, and I seriously considered putting him down but after maybe two weeks of being blind he would come out and dig for food.
He's been in a 5 since I bought him to make it easier to find food. Less space to have to forage around but I've upgraded him to a 10gl recently and he's been doing very well. He pigs out every once in a while (when I feed bloodworms) but for the most part keeps a sleek profile. Hopefully he'll last a while, he's done very well so far. I really like him.
