Spot, one of my wild caught silver arowana decided to make break for it this afternoon..
keep in mind that there are NO escape holes.. the top is egg crate and on top of the egg crate there are coils of water change hoses and ceramic bowls with fruit in them and decorations that are heavy that i don't want to put in the tank.
but when i went into the diningroom to get ready for work yesterday afternoon, i found Spot laying on the tile under my step stool. i have no idea how he got out, or why for that matter.
he was nearly dry to the touch and just barely breathing.. when i put him back in the tank i thought for sure he was dead.. he just rolled over and stayed with his tail down. so i opened up the tank and rolled him back over and moved him back and forth a few times to ge water flowing over his gills. and he moved a bit and then rolled over again.
i had to do that 3 times before he tried to swim away from me. and then i grabbed him with my long handled grabbers and stuck him directly in the air bubbles from one of the sponge filters. it took him a few more minutes, but he finally started staying upright and swimming.. though, kinda slow.
only damage i see on him is one of his scales looks red like blood. and his tail is a darker pink that it used to be. but other than that you'd never know that he had nearly died. i'll try to get some pics when there is light in the diningroom..
