Depending on how many fish you plan to keep, Id say go with either, acouple canisters or a wet/dry.

i forgot to ask
Heaters Ido go with Two 150Watt or Two 200Watt (brand of your choice). better to have two IMO they dont stay on as long an if by chance one dies then you have another.

i need to put my peacock cichlids in this tank.i know,i am getting alot of crap about the fish choice.ahh, would love to get an umbee though  oh also i did not buy the stand planning on using a heavy duty metal desk but the problem is the desk is only 5 ft the tank is 6ft.thinking of buying a thick door to put under the tank,on top the desk.do you think that would be ok?

I wouldn't risk it, not worth loosing your new tank, fish and the cost of the damage. It's best to do these type of things properly, there are hundrens of articles on DIY stands you can find using google. Or why not get a local joiner build you one. Failing that, you can do what i did with my 125. A big sheet of wood, a 1/2" sheet of foam and stick it on the floor.

that would be fine. people put too much importance on the tanks. all of my tanks sit on 2 lengths of timber 2 inches wide. remember the bottom of the tank is the same as the side of the tank and you dont need to put the side of the tank on anything for it not to break. also the foam is only if theres any dirt on the bottom of the tank or the surface you are going to use. as long as they are both really clean you will be ok. but bear in mind a single grain of sand under the tank in the center will split the glass if you fill it. (hence the foam). i reckon that tank will look amazing with the right malawis
