I went to the LFS yesterday to see if they had got anything new in. I had been eyeballing these two baby aros that still had their egg sacs for the last few weeks. Well, I went in and there was only one left in the tank, so I made my gf feel bad that he was all alone and get it for me. :p. He still has a tad bit left of his egg sac, but it should be gone within the next couple days, if not tomorrow. He is about 3-3.5" and is in a 20 long with my RTC until they both can fend for themselves with the Cichla and Pacu (since they steal all the food from the RTC). I am not sure what he is exactly as he has characteristics of both a silver and black aro. He has the silver body like a silver should, but he has a black line running down his body from the gills to the tip of his tail. He has a black stripe down the center of his eye and gold/black swimming fins (pectoral?) and his barbels are gold and black as well. I will try to get a picture up for a confirmed ID, but as from the description does it sound like a baby silver or black?

Any help would be great, and pictures are soon to come.

Thanks,
Kevin!

P.S. I can't wait for him to become a 4' monster! :headbang2

I like how you made your gf feel bad so she'd get it for you, thats her job! lol

Sounds like a silver to me, but the easiest but not always correct way is checking how much you spent on it 15-30 bucks is ussually what silvers go for around here versus blacks aros are 100 + and all the juvie black aros I see are a nice dark black Edged with red tips all along their fins

I dont think his gf woulda spent $100+ on a fish for him XD

Yeah its probably a silver...and actually she has spent a total of $100 on fish for me from valentines day till now :)

I told her to buy me a GATF for $150 plus shipping....she said I was crazy :p

congrats on getting your new baby aro, i just got one myself about a week ago. he is around 3 inches as well. post pics when you can.
