Finally managed to get my hands on a 3 inch Indo Dat. It's pretty stable in the tank atm and the contrast is nice. The owner had it feeding on krill but I want to supplement with pellets as well. What is a good pellet to train it on?

you could start with Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets for now, then Hikari Massivore Delite pellets as it gets older. Or you can go straight for the larger Massivore pellets if you want but you just have to break them up into smaller pieces for the little guy.

Darn, training this datnoid to eat will be a long trial. It's not even eating the krill atm. It's probably still getting used to the tank and what not. It's the 2nd day and it hasn't touched a single speck of food. Forget pellet training... I need to get it to eat regardless of what it is.

Give it time... I had a pack of NTT's that did not eat non live for EVEER>>> I forget now many months now... like 5-7months.. no exaggeration

I tried frozen blood worms, frozen krill, freeze dried shrimp, freeze dried krill and cut up pieces of market prawn. It hasn't eaten any of it. Today will be the 4th day it hasn't eaten... It did show some interest and chase the krill when the water pushed it around. I guess it looked like live food, but when it got close enough the datnoid would just lose interest and swim away. I don't know what to try anymore. Do I just keep waiting?
