Don't spook him. Sensitive to light but can adjust over time. Keep some vertical grass(fake plants) as they will sit vertical in them. Feed floating pellets and blood worms when small. Feed cut shrimp once over about 6", and live worms. Feed whole shrimp and live worms when over 10". Feed lots of whole shrimp when over 14", and plenty of live worms. Keep water pristine. If well fed, and in clean water you could potentially have a 18" fish a few years from now! Enjoy! One of my favorite smaller catfish species for sure! Their snouts are really sensitive also and break easily when spooked and run into the glass. Helps to have the fake grass as they will stay in it and hide when lights are on to help avoid this. They seem to be much less spastic and more lazy bottow dwellers once they are over 12". Was hand feeding mine once it hit 14". Sadly was murdered when it was 15.5".
