Hello,

I recently put my new sunfish in their tank. They're still figuring out that they're in a box now.

I'm having a lighting issue though.
They flip out when the lights come on, and the lights wash them out anyway. The way windows are arranged in the room necessitate them being in a certain position to see any color.
How do you guys light your native tanks?

what kind are they? a green, and three others?
if the one is a redbreast sunfish you may end up with just one fish anyway.
if you can fill it with plants it should be good to break up aggression, but the only plants my sunnies would leave alone when they were small was algae, the only plant that could stand up to them was hornwort. I had to resort to a tank full of driftwood.

Yes you could put in a couple stonecats if you have a glass jar or a flat rock over your other rocks to make a cave for them to hide in. I grew Elodea with my Greens and it was fine until spawning season when they cleared out a nest in the middle of the tank.....if you grow it on the sides it might be ok.
