I purchased 3 NTTs. One of them is perfect and very stable. The problem is that he is swimming close to the surface and not looking 100%. The other 2 that I received are unstable. One is very black and the other is yellow/orange but the bars don't show well. How long will it take these to become stable?

mine took a week or two to become stable, I added some coppersafe to the water to be on the safe side and made sure the water was ultra clean.

lots of WC's and no lights keep it dark and clean .. the less stress on the fish the faster the fish with stable out... quality water quality food = quality fish

my 4 dats are doing GREAT .. had them since sunday

I have an Fx5 on the 75 gallon so water clarity wont be a problem. If anything the current will be a problem.

Maybe tomorrow, maybe never.

NTTs are known to be unstable. If you want a fish that is stable in color then dats may not be for you. Some dats are very stable and more are unstable. They are unique fish in this regard.

The one truth is that the larger the dat the more stable they tend to be.

PS - The one dat at the surface is most likely "hiding" there. Add some extra cover and it should stay closer to the bottom of the tank.

I hope thats the case, but he was in the middle of the tank. Not near the tall plants or anything. I guess that time will tell.

They all turned out to look very nice. They stabled up pretty fast.

all 4 of mine are looking great .. when the tank is dark they are out and about .. eating blood worms .. and really active .. in the day time they hide in there clay pot and just come out to check me out .. REALLY stable at night .. less stable during the day (if its bright out) still great fish

They are kind of funny. Mine remind me of bats coming out at night. swarming all over the place.
