Well i got my red bellies today! I got 5 of them for my 55 gallon tank.
They are small now, about an inch long.
After the things I read I was expecting them to hide and be very shy but they dont seem to be scared at all! They dont freak out when the light is on or when people walk infront of the tank. I put some foil over the glass where the light shines through and ripped some holes in it so it wouldn't be so bright though. I'm stoked!
Right now they are in the tank with about 12 neon tetras. I was expecting them to not last and hour but I don't think they have killed one yet. I'm sure they will slowly start disappearing.
Here are some pics....
They are pretty awesome. I put in a could Cichlid sticks and they all came up in typical Piranha fashion and ripped it apart. Shaking their heads and tearing off little chunks of it. I could watch them for hours.
One thing I did notice is they all have bitten fins.Is that normal? They seem to be getting along okay. They pretty much stay in a group all the time (or shoal).
