I finally got my petricolas in and man are they small (3/4"). Unfortunately only 4 of the 10 survived. I guess it was too hot on the FedEx truck.

I was hoping to keep them with my cichlids but they are wayyyyy to small right now. My cichlids are 2"+ so these will be kept in a breeder until they get a little bigger.

The breeder is about 7" long, so you can see how tiny they are I hope.

I have 11 Petricolas in one tank that look awesome. Had 12 until a couple of weeks ago when I lost one to a freak accident. I had attached some Java fern to a piece of bogwood with an elastic band to secure it whilst it attached itself. The elastic band snapped and the cat ate it probably thinking it was a worm. When I retturned from California found him dead with a piece hanging out of both his mouth and vent. Needless to say I dont use elastic bands anymore. I am well gutted

I think I'm going to keep these 4 and let them grow old. I may get more later on but I have to wait until they get bigger. How fast do they grow?

I had one of those and loved him, seemed to grow pretty fast to me. My fish the other day ate him:nilly:  I was really sad. I tried to find more for another tank of mine and cant seem to find them around here anymore :( one day I guess

flyfish25 has a bunch of 3/4"-1" ones he's selling really cheap if you want to look him up. That's where I got mine.

They're painfully slow growers. I'd guess at least 2-3 years before they're old enough/large enough to breed. Best way to breed them and get lots of eggs is using the flowerpot method (just do a search). The bigger the groups the better too (I have 14 adults plus all my young).
