i set up my tank tonight and i put my pacu in to acclimate it even more over night. i did a big water change because i didnt quite rinse the playsand good enough. so i had to clean the tank with my python until it was clear again and then i added more then half of the water out of my other 75 gallon tank so that i have some water with bacteria in it. i didnt have any more water conditioner until i grab my ray tomorrow so i will add some while im acclimating the ray with my airline drip.

it looks really nice, the sand colour turned out nice and natural looking and its pretty fine and shouldnt pose any problems like silica sand. i could have went the bare bottem method but one of the main reasons i want a ray is because they are amazing when they hide. so i needed to have sand for that :)

i will take some pics tomorrow night and get you guys to critque my tank set up.

here is the set up currently
1 75 gallon tank
1 AC500 filter
-heater not sure how many watts but it can handle the tank fine
-lighting is a water proof canopy shop light

am i going to need more filteration? i do once a week changes on all my tanks.

what is the highest PH rays can be kept at? and if its too high how do i lower the PH?

thank you all very very much for your help

Dan

your heater needs to be covered so it dosnt burn the ray. water dosnt carry bacteria so if your tank has only been set up 1 day with a new filter it is not ready for a ray. as for the ph they do better with a lower one but as long as it stays consistant it should be fine as longs as its not like 9. something

ok i will get a heat guard tomorrow!!!!!

there was already the AC500 running on this tank for months and months. i just gave it a quick rinse in room temp water when cleaning and setting up the tank. so its not just 1 day of water

what kinda ray?

75g is alittle small if you plan to house it there 4 life.

Was it tank water or tap water that you rinsed the filter in? If it was tap you just killed your bacteria!!!
ya i hope you didnt do that or no fish will be ready for that tank.
