I got some Malaysian wood at my last stop at the store. I boiled it to get all the tanic acid out of it. Then I put it in the tank and let it sit (to get it to sink) and it didn't sink. I put gravel in it to weight it down. Is there anything I can do to get it to sink without gravel in it?

its gonna take time for it 2 become water logged i have some diftwood being held down by a few rocks it takes a couple of weeks depending on the size of the wood

Ok it's pretty small so yeah, but ok thanks I'm glad to see I'm not doing anything wrong. Thanks for the info.

boiling won't get all the tannins out, and will actually damage the outer cell structure of the wood causing to release more tannins. They won't hurt anything, and you probably won't even notice a color shift if it's a small piece in a large tank. If the color does turn however, you just have to wait and water change.

Are you sure it is malaysian driftwood? Many types are sold, and several look similar to malaysian. Malaysian driftwood should sink, unless it has been sunk in water for long periods of time, and has dried out.

The tag said malaysian and it said product of malaysia, but it all could be lies in todays world.

Could be, or it could be the pet store/customers switching tags. Post a pic for verification.

Lol, I'm in the dark ages when it comes to cameras, I don't have a digital one or know how to get a pic from my phone to my computer.
