i got rid of my ropefish because my oscars werent getting along with it. its sad he was beautiful but i didnt want him getting killed. i went and traded him for this raphael cat. biggest one ive ever seen and he was in a 10 gallon tank, poor guy. hes being acclimated as we speak!:D

good choice - those things are built like tanks - shame it didnt work out for you

I don't blame you. A large Oscar will see a Ropefish as an over-sized worm. I really like Ropefish. I plan on getting another one when I have appropriate tankmates for one. I have a Raphael Cat and he's great. I hardly see him except during feedings but he's still a great cat that minds his own business. Just make sure that your Oscar doesn't inhale him. The Raphael will splay its hard fins and lodge itself in the Oscar's throat and kill him slowly. If you keep your fish in a large enough tank this shouldn't be a problem though.

the raphael is longer and about 3 times as wide as my oscar so i dont think that will be a problem lol! he is so beautiful. ive got a drip line on him right now i wish it would have worked out too! ive had 2 but right when i put him in the oscar had his whole head in his mouth. im glad he survived and the lfs owner let me switch him out for this rapha and pay the difference :)

hes about 5.5 inches and his wingspan/finspan whatever is about 4 inches. whats their max size they get? i think they grow slow and i read they get about 8 inches long and quit growing but im sure, like everything else, if they are fed and kept care of they can grow pretty big.

i love your pic btw sunfish, johnny cash was a great man, and i absolutely love his music, listen to it religiously
