Got some fry!!!!

my moms african cichlid (dont know what kind but its marble and a mbuna) was holding eggs i notices. yesterday i loked into her mouth and i saw FRY !!! i then stripped them from her mouth and know i have about 40 african in a 10 gallon swimming.[YT]fEbteppNHvk[/YT]
 
Aren't they supposed to be with the parent? Don't they protect them from other fish and keep them from getting sucked into the filter I thought....I could be wrong?

Not really If you plan to raise them its usually better to raise them in another tank because the parent may see them as food.

thats what i thought too. but after some research you should seperate them for a high suvival rate.

yea that what iam doing already got an african holding eggs how many days do the eggs hatch out. btw never kept track off these frys eggs one day i looked at the mother a noticed them.
 
Most hold for between 21-28 days but some mothers will keep holding the fry over 30 days until they are comfortable enough to spit.But if you know how to strip the fry you should be fine after 21 days just make sure they are free swimmers without the yolk sack still attached.

yea they had basically no egg sacks
