I just starting to breed bichirs again.

P. bichir "Regional hybrid strain"

This strain is hybrid between some regional variations of Polypterus bichir.
Hope I could breed pure bred strains but didn't got that luck so far.

Male parents

WC PBB from Lake Fitri (Nearby Chad)

Female parents

F1 generation of this hybrid strain.
This fish was hybrid between Nigerian Lapradei and Sp. Koloton.

Last batch from the same parents.
This was only 50 days old fish from hatch.

And also got some F2 generation of Polypterus delhezi "Wild Cross strain"

This strain was bred between very best Congo WC and Indonesian CB specimens to imporve head, bodyshape and patterns with the style of Indo CB strains.
(And yes, I have another strain that bred only with WC specimens too)

Parents fish of dels.
(Sorry that the photos are not so clear because I took it while water change)

Female was F1 between Indonesian CB and best Congo WC and the male is WC with broad patterns.

I'm also trying to breed my other strains of delhezi too (Pure wild strain) and hope I can keep update with good news.

giseok jung giseok jung dude you are a wizard. Great work all the way. I wonder if you would like to share some insights as in how to set the mood for these magnificent fishes so they can start the breeding game ? Lol

It's quite hard to explain because every species of Polypterus have slightly different breeding conditions but for the basic, you need very well conditioned parents.
If you try easy species like CB senegalus, only thing you need is seperate tank with fresh water with some moss or spawning mop. It's simpler than many other people think.
