there are several ways to get rid of these pesky anemones

one way is to use this, just use the syringe and inject this into the base of the anemone.

another way is to control it is to get some butterfly fish, im not sure which species does the best job, maybe someone else can fill us in on that.

as for the bristle worms, there are several traps available to catch these little annoying buggers, try to catch them the first time, or they will be on to you the second

oh and of coarse............Welcome to MFK DeeGee!!! :D

I use peppermint shrimp in my reef tank to keep them under control...Now my fish only tank I am going to get a copper banded butterfly (cause the shrimp will be eaten) They say that they eat them...or take a stong dose of Kalkwasser and inject them with a needle.

oh yea i forgot bout the peppermint shrimp

another critter to keep em under control

BANDED BUTTERFLY!!! tats the name i was looking for :)

I agree with jrwagner, I use peppermint shrimp for my reef tanks - they keep the worms at bay, and I also have added a CB Butterfly in the past (lucky for me, he didn't care for the shrimp, and left him alone). I typically stray away from using chemicals if not absolutly necessary. If you have the patients, and a quick hand, you can remove some of the larger aptasia with tweezers. LOL you won't get them all, and it may just piss you off (they are fast little f**kers!! LOL), but if you get bored, lol, try it. I remove the larger ones that way, but for smaller ones, or ones really wedged into a crevice - CBB all the way. Vinegar works too, but be carefull if you use that, it's acidic, and can screw with your water, and harm the other inhabitants. If you go that route, make sure you are patient, and not frustrated to the point where you just want to squirt the hell out of them, lol. As far as other chemicals - like I said, i typically steer clear unless I really need them, but the link DEL posted has a product on there that i have used in the past with good results.

Well im on my way to get peppermint shrimp for the aptasia.

Now the bristle worms, i was told i can leave them alone it wont be a problem as long as i dont have the coral eating ones/ Is this true?

I have an arrow crab, a banded shrimp and a 6-lined wrasse in my 230 g to help control the bristleworm population. There are several different types of wrasses and dottybacks that will also help control bristleworms.

there are a couple types of bristle worms that are quite beneficial i had 2 in my reef they ate anything that died and left over food and also keep the sand airated if the worm isnt eating your corals keep it
