I bought a "lace Synodontic cat" a few weeks ago, or atleast thats what I thought I bought. Come to find out (after a lil research) that I actually have a Synodontis eupterus cat.

never ever trust the labels in the chain fish stores even one of the better ones i deal with bigals screw up usally because of the shipping slip if in doubt grab a book in the store and reference it first to be sure i've gotten screwed on plecos and some plants in the past paid 10 dollaes for a potted plant once when it grew i found out its a common water weed in N america worth 2 dollars lol i always check now

ya Ive seen at both lace an eupterus Syno's at acouple petcos. the eupterus are tagged at 15.00 while the lace are only 5.00

I dont think I wouldve made the connection if his color hadnt came in once I transfered him into a new tank. but to my surprise I have a better fish  .

I wish I had more incidents like this.

Ever go to Petco and ask them questions about salt water fishes? They look at you like they are in mid labotomy. They scare me.

Ive had them scratching there heads on freshwater fish Let alone Saltwater fish. Ive rarely encountered a petco person that knows alotve there dept.

ha! I saw frontosa listed at petco as tropheus moorii for 14.99. if it was the other way around i'd have bought the whole lot!

Of course the sad thing is that only the serious hobbyists realize this. The general public thinks all pet store employees know what they are talking about and we end up with so many animals (finned, furred, feathered, etc.) abused and neglected!

amen!!

When I went to Petco for some bumble bee snails, I had to tell the worker that they're saltwater. Then he looked over at the saltwater tanks as if he forgot they were even there.
