I have a tank with 2 blue neon dwarf gouramis, 2 other dwarfs, 3 glow tetras and a orbi stingray pup. I got the blues about a week ago and one of them is acting weird....as in it seems to love me. I am in the tank daily doing a small water change and it started trying to eat my arm. Now when I put my hand in there he swims over and rubs all over in my hand and on my fingers. He even lets me touch him first. And if I just dangle my hand there he continues to swim between my fingers and rub in my hand. He is eating fine....he has a huge appetite for such a little guy. Is this normal for this kind of fish? Iv had Oscars that don't mind being touched, but nothing like this.

When you 2 guys produce hybrids don't forget to send a pup or two for me. Kiddin, must be love I guess?

Haha sure will do.....yea its the strangest thing ever....its cute as long as its not cuz there is something wrong with him

Fish are much more intelligent then we often give them credit for... can't say as it being negative behavior only that he may me missing something in his diet causing this ( ie not enough protein so he's picking the dead skin off you) But it could be purely psychological and he loves you... if only they could talk! lol

It dosnt sound completely like it to me, but there are some diseases that make fish rub up against objects, almost like thetre itchin. Anabantoids, (gouramis are part of this group), are succeptable to velvet disease. A dusty coatin develops, and the fish is iratated and tries to rub it off. You said your gourami looks normal, which is good, and he may be just a very personable guy. Just somethin you should be aware of.

Yea he looks great, and he doesn't pick at me. He eats flake food, bloodworms and frozen squid that i put in for the ray. So it must just be his personality. Thanks everyone
