I got what i think is a gourami, with a 30 gallon tank i bought to get ready for the 125 i am installing. Anyhow i had 20 neons. I added a bunch of coral and other decor so i would have surface area for bacteria, that i could use to jump start my sump, and then the big tank.

Anyhow, i removed a lot, to start on the sump cycle, and 18 neons are gone!!!

Only thing big enough to eat the is this guy. I dont see any dead fish, unless the tiny cats, and or pleco did it, but they are all small.

is this normal??

thats is not my fish, i am not at home right now. It is fat, not bloated or anything. And it is always willing to eat. Meats you at the top as soon as you grab food. No hollow decor.

I thought for awhile they were just hiding out with all the coral old filters and things i stuffed in there. I enjoy watching the neons the most.

I was waiting for the shelf to get done before cycling the sump, but i wanted to see the neons, so i strated the cycle in the garage, and will put water in buckets for the move.

Removed most of the decore, and only 2 neons were in there. I looked every where, and nothing, not a sign.

well you added coral to a 'normal' freshwater tank. thats the problem right there. keep coral in saltwater/ african rift lake tanks

so the coral ate the neons???

I would love to hear your theroy on this.

i dont know much about coral, will it live in freshwater,

or is it freshwater that turns it on your fish?

It is dry coral, often used as decor in freshwater tanks where im from.
