Would this be good in a 55 gal?
2 Kissing Gourami
1 fire eel
small pleco
Also,i know it said that sand was the best thing for the fire eel, but could i use a small rock bed?
thanks

You tank is to small for a fire eel, as i had a 18" fire eel in a 120g and he decided he did not have enough room and decided to relocate his house on my floor :( i also discovered than my 4" pleco liked his slime coat. if you want an eel why not try a peacock eel?

would a track eel be the same? there is one at the LFS that they said would get to about 12"?

Tiretracks get the same length as fire's if I remember correctly. I would go with a peacock because they only get 16 inches long. Small rocks would work, the eels at work bury themselves in the gravel we have.

I belive tyre track eels get alot bigger, well atleast alot 'taller' than the fire eel so thats an even more a no no lol, if you get / have a 100g+ tank then you could have both lol.

its not like the eel will be a meter in one year (not without pumping it) so if you are planning on getting a bigger tank in the future...

well i have a 125 with a 5" bullhead and 4 very very small jags im getting tired of fast,(cant see te in ther) Mabey i could get something that could live with the eel? Im looking for a show stoper, soming i haven't tried yet. Im thinking of these Bichirs they had at petsmart. In fact, here in the last few days i been on the web till midnight looking up fish. And thats not me lol, 8pm most the time im looking for the bed, lol. Just wont to get the right thing this time.. If im going to pay that much money,i dont wont to have to give it up in a year.. Im thinking i should have kept my 2 year old oscar. He was sooo cool, just didn't think so at the time:(

oh and the fire eel will be about $80 at petco. Not sure the size, all it said is large. could be a few inches :irked: is this high for them?

80 USD?? Way too much, we buy small ones (12cm) here for 13 USD. If its really big, like 50cm, then the price would be good but im sure they wont sell them that big.

I say grow the 4 jags outs in the 55g (as you said you were either looking for a male or a pair) then sell the others, and put an eel in your 125g, or sell ALL the jags and get a couple of eels and masaybe a couple of severums for your 125g, mine have a great personality. then do a community tank witht he 55g. but that just what i would do. hope this helps...rust
