Woke up to see my gourami laying on the ground, looks perfectly fine so I thought maybe he was sleeping as he ate and was interactive yesterday. But as I try to move him, he can’t swim very good and is laying in a new spot. He looks perfectly fine as he did yesterday and when I got him. The tank is planted with tankmates of pond snails, 1 nerite snail, 1 baby panda garra, 1 amano shrimp, and 1 unknown rasbora(1.5cm). Last time I had gouramis, they all died to some disease that took them down 1 by 1 over the course of a month. Don’t know what I can do as the other animals are fine, and the gourami is looking to good, and I don’t think I can medicate him.

What species is it?
There is a disease that affects dwarf guoramis, just kind of kills them quickly without much possible treatment.

He can’t float very good, breathing normally, and will acknowledge I’m there.

Sounds like it may be a swim bladder issue.
A few people who could probably help better than I can:

Gold honey gourami, I put him in a breeder box and now he’s acting normal? He not laying down anymore and instead just acting like he normally would. Maybe I just woke him up, but usually he would be swimming around before I turned on the light. But less than an hour ago he was having trouble swimming.

Good to hear! I would continue monitoring, see if it gets better or worse, what seems to trigger it. The water could possibly be not oxygenated enough, labyrinth fish do breath air.

Maybe, because when I had him in the net for a little bit, he was taking air out of the surface.

Might be worth a shot.
I’m not sure if honey gouramis get it, but most dwarf gouramis get a disease that just quickly kills them. They usually are lethargic and just waste away.

He tried to greet me by swimming up, but couldn’t maintain it and fell back down. I put him back in the net so he’s near the surface.
