My community tank has gone insane ever since I added my new pair of swordtails. My gourami is going completely INSANE on them. What should I do? The gourami is a blue gourami and the swordtails are like black and greenish. He is smashing them into the glass and ripping off their scales and biting their heads. What should I do? I have no open tanks. I just have 1 gallon jugs that I use for water changes. I am definitely returning the swordtails but I have to wait until tomorrow because my lfs is closed. The gourami was all peaceful and nice and now he is a complete mean killing machine of death. He is even chasing my platies now. I am very worried. The only tanks that are open are my diseased bettas 3 gallon tank and my water jugs. What do I do with the swordtails for now? I just need to house them overnight to return them right away tomorrow. Right now they are just back in their bag that they came in because I don't want them killed. I have NEVER seen a fish this aggressive in MY LIFE. More aggressive than any gatf I've ever seen. The swordtails are about 2.5 inches each. I have a male and a female. Thanks!

So should I just let them fight for tonight then get rid of the swordtails?

From the sounds of it, the swordtails might not make it through tonight...can you divide the tank?

No, I can't. But he's gotten a little less aggressive. But he's still pushing them in the corner. But instead of biting he just backs away now. I think they might make it tonight. Tomorrow I will try to get a large log for both of them to stay out of sight. But if that doesn't work then they are going back as soon as possible.

Its good hes being less aggressive now, hopefully it stays that way until you find a solution

Ok now he is completely ignoring the swordtails but now he's beating on the platies. I have a feeling he's just having a fit lol.

Oh, sounds to me now that they're establishing a new hierarchy...things should be settling down within the next couple of hours I'd say

Oh that's good to hear. That was totally insane. Image a tank full of a bunch of hungry payaras, gatf, exodons, piranhas, wolf fish, cichlids, snakeheads, and catfish fighting over a pile of food. It was about that aggressive. I'm pretty sure the gourami spit out a wad of scales.

Wow, ya, I would just keep your eyes on them lol
